FMQ challenge 3/4 done

earlier this year i signed up for the sewcalgal FMQ challenge...each month all participants complete a tutorial taught by a FMQ expert...at the beginning i cut out 12 blocks and readied them for the upcoming months...each month i complete the challenge on one of these blocks...i have being putting them together with a quilt as you go method from the Marti Michell book Machine Quilting in Sections...
hanging out on the design wall with a lizard and the back of a  FMQ challenge for sept piece...
hanging outside in the spruce trees on a warm indian summer day...one block for each month of the challenge so far...
hanging out in the apple tree with what is left after the hail storm pretty much stripped the tree of leaves and apples...in about three months i should be finished all the challenges and then i can finish this work and add borders and put it in the drawer for my next grandchild....

I think this is a great way to put the challenge together. May I commend you on not just 'stashing' the blocks for 'future use' ;)

I agree. Putting them together as you go along is smart.

wow! what an awesome looking quilt. I am thinking about putting some of practice pieces together and make a small quilt. Some I think are pretty good and I hate to throw them away.

Absolutely beautiful...I love the different colored threads! And kudos for getting your work put together while the QAL is still going!

An excellent idea, for sure. If you hang it up or even have it kicking around being used on the couch or whatever, it will keep the stitching techniques present in your mind.
