the last several when not at work or recovering from work i have been working on a free motion quilting practice piece...which i have added a lizard to...i densely quilted around this lizard using aurifil thread in a matching time a might try using a thread with slightly more contrast...the lizard was quilted with free motion work around the edge with superior threads rainbow thread...i will try the next piece with wool batting to try to get from poof...the lessons we learn when we try new things...i guess that it called growth and development...or perhaps life long learning.

frogs and lizards

spring is coming slowly to the north. thoughts of spring bring thoughts of flowers and butterflies but for a true tomboy spring brings thoughts that soon the ponds and sloughs will be full of water. with that water also comes tadpoles, frogs and salamanders.

been busy this month and last working on the free motion quilting challenge. january's challenge was to work on leaves. this was a great challenge as it forced me to work on something organic rather then geometric patterns. loved the hours is spent in front of my machine quilting, reflecting and looking out the window at the trees and the snow.

free motion quilting challenge mar 2012

this january i happened on the blog of sewcalgal where she had set up a free motion quilting challenge. so i jumped at the chance to improve my quilting skills. here in the frozen north it is hard to get any quilting classes in free motion quilting. i immediately started out with my practice blocks and attacked this challenge with glee

time to get with it.

have not used this blog for many years. am going to try to get with. still having adventures in the north but also in many different places around the world, belize, italy, mexico. enjoyed some more then others.
